Known as Jem to his friends, family and fans, he has thousands of hours of live combined television and radio presenting experience the amiable Londoner has been in the industry since 1993 when he produced a youth documentary for the BBC whilst still a sixth-former!
Jem rose through the ranks behind the scenes at the Beeb, following the traditional career path from runner to floor manager before eventually ending up in front of the camera. Jem holds the distinguished honour of being the launch presenter for SmartLive TV’s first ever broadcast! He is also an accomplished voice over artist and radio presenter.
Q&A
How did you get into presenting?
As always with these sorts of things, it happened by accident! I started off as a floor manager, and the director of the channel I worked for asked me to audition for a new interactive gaming show in 2002. He liked my style — I mean, who wouldn’t — and what can I say? The rest is history...
If you weren’t a presenter, what would you be?
I would love to have been working in the travel industry. I enjoy travelling and seeing different countries. I could have been a brain surgeon by the way ... but I thought, what would I rather do? Save lives, or give away cash on Smart Live Casino!?
What do you do when you’re not presenting at Smart Live Casino?
I’ve always had a passion for photography. One day (hopefully sometime soon) I want to own my own darkroom so I can process prints.
You’re off to the Monte Carlo Casino for the weekend. Which celebrity do you take with you as your guest, and why?
Elle MacPherson. Why? Why do you think?
If you won £1 million at the casino, what would you spend it on?
Oh that’s an easy one: I’d play roulette and try to double my million. When that happens, I’ll let you know...
If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
